They don't actually care. Like you said, it's just something to pull out when they think it can win the argument. The conservative governor of Michigan put a tax on pensions last year.Lago PARANOIA wrote:I know I made another thread about this, but that thread was a flop and it's more relevant here. Anyone else really, really fucking tired of the old 'but what about granny's pennnnsiiiiooooon' canard that stupid conservatives drop as a phony trump card?

Mutual funds or even bonds may on average get people more money, but A.) a lot of people are living from paycheck to paycheck to begin with and B.) even if you're one of the lucky duckies who can afford to squirrel away a few thousand dollars a year, a lot of people just can't handle the risk of investments that yield more than what you can get from a bank savings' account.

Before I read your response, I read Lago's about two times, trying to figure out what the context of his post was. It was obviously a response and not one of his usual necros, but I was the last (apparent) poster before him, and I could not get it to make sense.Koumei wrote:You fell for, and responded to, a bot, Lago.
When in doubt, read the next post to see if it explains everything.

By the way, when this thread was started, the price of Gold was $1457.50. Today, the price of Gold is $1235.90.
That is a yield of -15.2% nominal over two years and eight months, or about negative five percent per year. I want to hear Doom and vnonymous explain again how Gold constitutes an "investment" rather than a "bet."
Or eat their fucking crow. Really, either one is good.

They show up every now and then. But apparently only when gold price is high. Right now we have to deal with bitcoin "investors" because that is the currently high priced speculative investment for people who hate the government.Chamomile wrote:Do they even still post here?
When gold goes up and bitcoin drops, what's his name will disappear and Doom shall return.
